Asda brings back soup, roll and unlimited Tea and Coffee for just £1 for the winter months

Asda has announced it’s bringing back it’s popular café ‘winter warmer’ £1 meal deal scheme to support the over 60s this winter, as they continue to face increased financial pressures during the cost-living crisis.

From 1st November until the end of February, Asda are offering people aged 60 and over the chance to enjoy soup, a roll and unlimited tea and coffee for just £1 in any of Asda’s 205 cafes.

Asda first launched Winter Warmers in November 2022 for two months in a bid to support older customers who were disproportionately affected by spiralling living costs, with 65-to-74-year-olds experiencing a £163 year-on-year drop in disposable income in August 2022. The initiative saw over 650,000 £1 soup meals served.

The offer is available all day during the period in question and will run alongside the Kids eat for £1 offer which continues to be hugely popular, with over2.6 million meals served since its launch in June 2022, and over 180,000 in the last four weeks alone.

The latest figures from Asda’s income tracker reveal 40% of the lowest earning households still experienced negative disposable income in September, meaning their income doesn't cover what they need to spend on bills and other essentials.

Kris Comerford, Asda’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “We know winter is set to be incredibly hard for thousands of pensioners as they continue to worry about how to keep themselves warm in the face of rising living costs and being on a fixed income.

"Last year we served over 650,000 meals to the over 60s in two months, by bringing the initiative back for 2023 and extending it until February we hope it will prove just as impactful across the winter months for those who need it most.”

Selected Asda stores also run a ‘Community Cuppa’ campaign in our cafes by creating space for community groups who may otherwise struggle to meet due to rental costs or high energy costs. Spaces will be available on weekdays in November and December from 2pm to 6pm and all community group members who visit will receive unlimited free tea or coffee.

Stuck in a culinary rut? Asda has the perfect thing for you

Asda is helping to spice up suppertimes and offer diners restaurant quality meals for less, as it announces two new premium ready meal ranges.

New research reveals the dire state of Brits’ weeknight meals with only a third only cooking their favourite cuisine once a week.

To help shoppers escape this culinary rut, Asda announces the launch of Bom Bahia and House of Yum, a premium Indian and Pan Asian ranges providing restaurant-quality meals without the hassle of cooking or takeaway price tag

Shoppers can find new meals in-store and online now starting from only £2.50.

Whether it's Italian, Indian, or Japanese, everyone has a favourite fare. Yet new information from Asda reveals over a third (37%) of Brits are only cooking their favourite cuisine at home once a week.

What's even worse, almost a fifth (17%) say they never do. So, to help the nation out of its culinary rut, Asda's launched Bom Bahia and House of Yum a new, premium Indian and Pan Asian range set to provide restaurant quality meals at home, without the price tag or lengthy recipe.

The launches are part of a total makeover of the Asda meal solution range, with over 300 new and improved lines launching across all cuisines. Asda’s research shows just under half (42%) of Brits are bored with their weeknight meals and the majority (54%) rotate a set of recipes each week.

The reasons cited for not cooking favourite cuisines more at home include thinking a restaurant or takeaway version will taste better (37%) and it being too costly to buy all the ingredients to cook them (22%). But despite Brits feeling their at-home renditions won’t live up to those at a restaurant, shockingly nearly a quarter of people (25%) never visit restaurants that serve their favourite dishes and nearly a third only do once a month (32%), claiming it’s simply too costly to do it. (67%).

Designed to change all of this, the new high-quality ranges each include eight mains and five sides to choose from, with dishes created using authentic cooking methods and traditional recipes to really allow customers recreate their favourite restaurant flavours at home. With minimal prep required, the range is ideal for busy weeknights when meal inspiration may be lacking, without the hefty price tag associated with a meal out or takeaway.

The Bom Bahia range is perfect for those seeking fragrant, flavoursome Indian staples. For those looking to spice up their weeknight dinners, the fiery Goan King Prawn Curry (£4.50) and Lamb Karahi (£4.50) are the perfect warmers as the nights draw in, made with juicy king prawns and succulent slices of lamb, and both of which pair perfectly with a bowl of delicious Gunpowder Potatoes (£2.50). There’s an aromatic, and mouth-watering Royal Chicken Biryani (£4.50), a decadent Indian Mixed Grill (£4.50) and an indulgent Slow Cooked Beef Madras (£4.50) all making for hearty main events, ideal for sharing or enjoying alone.

And leaving no vegetarian behind, the Roasted Cauliflower Makhani (£4.50) is a perfect meat-free alternative to the Smoked Butter Chicken, featuring fresh cauliflower florets in a smooth, tomato-based sauce, perfect for plating with rice or a fresh naan and a spoonful of Black Dal (£2.50) on the side.

For those looking for a pan-Asian taste adventure, the House of Yum range includes dishes such as the finger-kickingly good Black Tiger Prawns with a delightfully tangy, sweet, and savoury Tamarin dip (£2.50).

For moorishly good mains, shoppers can treat themselves to a Char Siu Pork (£4.50) - pork roasted to perfection in a sumptuously sweet BBQ sauce, a tender Slow Cooked Beef Teriyaki (£4.50), or the Slow Cooked Beef Massamam (£4.50), a rich, fall-apart beef curry perfectly seasoned with mild spice. Vegan Society approved Bang Bang Tofu (£4.50)- soft and succulent pieces of marinated smoky tofu smothered in a fiery chilli and garlic Bang Bang sauce.

To accompany, consumers can choose to elevate their meals with a choice of divinely Burnt Ginger Fried Rice (£2.50), or Jasmine Sticky Rice with Lime Leaf and Edamame Beans (£2.50), both as equally delicious.

Linsey Taylor, who is Senior Director for New Product Development at Asda said: “Both the Bom Bahia and House of Yum form part of a new, wider meal solution range designed to inspire and delight time-poor Brits who are seeking flavoursome weekday meals. Their release follows a multi-million-pound investment and refresh to improve the quality and variety of convenient pre-prepared meals, as we believe that everyone deserves to enjoy restaurant-quality food, at home, free of fuss or expense.”

The full Bom Bahia and House of Yum ranges are available to buy in-store and online now, with prices starting at £2.50.

Asda reveals results of independent taste tests against M&S foods

100s of Asda products voted ‘as tasty or ‘tastier than’ M&S products in thousands of independent blind taste tests

Standout products include Extra Special British Aberdeen Angus Ribeye Steak, Extra Special Lemon Drizzle Cake and Extra Special Madagascan Tiger Prawns

Why compromise on great taste when trying to save on the weekly shop? Asda’s answer: you don’t have to.

In thousands of blind taste tests, hundreds of independent testers compared Asda products to their M&S equivalents. The results revealed hundreds of Asda’s products were voted ‘as tasty’ or ‘tastier than M&S,’ but at a fraction of the price.

This isn’t just food, it’s M&S taste, at an Asda price - proving great tasting products don’t necessarily need to cost extra. All products in Taste Match are better value than the same items at M&S, a retailer with a long-standing reputation for great quality food.

Asda embarked on its Taste Test journey in July, when it nominated a series of stellar products for blind taste testing against luxury retailers such as Harrods, Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason, and Harvey Nichols.

Following results that showed an array of Asda products stand up well against their luxury counterparts, Asda's continued to deliver on its commitment to great quality and taste, while reassuring on price, through the launch of its M&S Taste Match campaign.

See below for some of the standout products from the taste testing.

To learn more, visit Asda.com/TasteMatch.

Breakfast bliss

Crumpet

The Extra Special Sourdough Crumpets (£1.00/6pk) go down a treat (vs M&S 6 Ultimate Crumpets Made with Sourdough, £1.50), and pair perfectly with the crispy Asda’s Butcher’s Selection Unsmoked Bacon (£2.25) (vs M&S £2.80).

Cheese o’clock

A French favourite, Asda’s Camembert (£2.00) proved as tasty as its M&S counterpart (M&S Camembert Cheese, £2.90). The smooth and buttery round pairs delightfully with an Extra Special Marmalade.

Dinner is served

The Extra Special Madagascan Tiger Prawns (£5.00) are plump and perfect for a Gambas Pil Pil, served with a baguette and Asda’s smooth Marques Del Norte Rioja Gran Reserva (£12.00 until 15th November) (vs M&S Collection Rioja Gran Reserva El Duque de Miralta, £16.00).

The prawns were voted tastier than those of M&S and are less than half the price. (M&S Collection Madagascan Extra Large Black Tiger Prawns, £11.00) - making them some seriously sizzling shellfish. Fancy something lighter?

The delicate and buttery Seabass Fillet (£3.50) is another taste test-approved option (vs M&S Mediterranean Skin On & Boneless 2 Sea Bass Fillets, £5.00), perfect for a Friday supper.

Steak

Ready to raise the steaks - literally? The pan-fried thick cut Extra Special British Aberdeen Angus Ribeye Steak (£7.50) is dry-aged on the bone for 30 days for depth of flavour which proved to be tastier than the M&S equivalent (M&S Collection British Ribeye Steak Salt Dry Aged 30 Days, £10.00). Perfect served with chips and a rocket & parmesan salad, take steak night to new heights and save 25% by shopping at Asda too!

The perfect dinner pairing, white wine fans can enjoy a crisp, cool sip of the Tuki Tuki Sauvignon Blanc (£8.00) (vs M&S Classics No. 39 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, £10.00).

And last but not least, a meal wouldn’t be complete without a show stopping dessert; Asda’s Extra Special Lemon Drizzle Cake is made with zesty lemon curd with a Sicilian Lemon infused sponge. What’s more, the cake will be reduced to only £2* until 29th October, meaning customers can save over 40% when shopping at Asda compared to M&S (vs M&S Lemon Drizzle Cake, £3.65).

Children In Need and Asda work together to combat food poverty

BBC Children in Need & George at Asda have announced their second collaboration with world famous children’s author and illustrator Liz Pichon, famed for her illustrated best-selling Tom Gates book series, to create this year’s Official T-Shirt, which will raise money for the charity.

This unique unisex t-shirt features BBC Children in Need’s iconic Pudsey Bear character in Liz’s signature doodle style.

This is the second t-shirt Liz has designed for BBC Children in Need and Asda. This year, all money raised through the sale of the t-shirts will go to support children and young people facing food insecurity, as part of Asda and BBC Children in Need’s Fuelling Potential campaign.

Throughout the summer holidays, Asda have been offering £1 meals to all children who visit the Asda café and half price adult meals from 3pm each day. In selected Asda Stores they have also been hosting Pudsey Clubs – where children have been able to take part in fun and creative activities.

Over the next three years Asda & BBC Children in Need aim to support 100,000 children by helping to make sure they have access to nutritious meals while having fun at BBC Children in Need funded holiday sessions that help boost their mental health and physical wellbeing.

Liz and a group of Community Champions from Asda stores across Manchester recently hosted a special session for children and young people to teach them how to doodle and encourage them to get fundraising for BBC Children in Need this year.

Liz Pichon said: “I'm absolutely thrilled to have been asked to design the BBC Children in Need T-shirt for the second time!

“Pudsey is iconic and last year's design was all around Pudsey, this year it's mostly inside with a slightly retro feel, lots of gorgeous colours PLUS we've added gold disco foil! I'm really proud to be part of this year's launch and want to encourage everyone to buy one…you can even colour the design in and get extra creative!"

Claire Hoyle, Director of Income, Marketing & Communications at BBC Children in Need said: “It is an absolute pleasure to have collaborated with the wonderfully talented children’s author and illustrator, Liz Pichon, for the second time on our Official T-Shirt with George & Asda this year. Liz’s design is fun and creative, and we know that our supporters will love it. This t-shirt will raise vital funds for children and young people across the UK when they need it most!”

Vicki Radford, Buying Manager, George at Asda said, “We are delighted to have Liz Pichon on board for the second year running to design the Official BBC Children in Need T-Shirt for George & Asda. It’s a joy to work with Liz who really brings her creativity to life through these designs and we know they are going to be really popular with our customers, these are now on sale from as little as £5.”

The Official T-Shirt is available to purchase now online at George.com and in stores soon, in both adult and child sizes (£5 - £10) with all profits from the sale of the t-shirt going to BBC Children in Need.

Besides the Official T-shirt, Liz has also designed a mug (£2) and a tote bag (£3) featuring her doodle Pudsey design which are also available to purchase in store and online at George at Asda from 26th October.

George at Asda also have a fully adaptive wear range of clothing for children which includes a baby bodysuit, a sweat jogger and top set and also an adaptive version of Liz Pichon’s official design jersey top. The range has been created for children who need extra assistance when dressing, and have reduced mobility - all garments have been thoughtfully designed to make dressing easier and more accessible.

The range has been designed with peg feeding tube holes, fully opening hook and loop fastenings at the neck, waist and ankles, higher backs on all trousers for wheelchair users. In addition, all garments are suitable for those with sensory issues as they all use soft threads and the scratchy care labels have been replaced with printed ones.

There is also a Pudsey tee which features a Braille and sign language graphic across both children’s and adult sizes - with the children’s style featuring the adaptive credentials too. The adaptive range is available from £4.50 for the baby bodysuit starting from 1st size and the children’s clothing starts at £4 for the jersey top - available from age 1-16yrs - with a minimum of 20% of the price of each product goes to BBC Children in Need charity.

Asda have been a partner of BBC Children in Need for 23 years raising over £31 million.

Liz Pichon’s new book, Tom Gates Five Star Stories has also been launched. Get ready for the ultimate FIVE STAR read and find out what happens when Tom and other fan-favourites in his class are challenged to write their funniest story.

Asda’s 2023 Tickled Pink campaign encourages everyone, regardless of age, gender or ethnicity to become Real Self-Checkers and establish a regular breast checking routine. In store POS will share the stories of five men and women who are this year’s Real Self-Checkers and highlight the importance of having a regular breast checking routine through their own personal journeys with the disease.

Kris Comerford, Asda’s Chief Commercial Officer - Food said: “Of course, we are incredibly very proud to have so many of our suppliers supporting this year’s Tickled Pink campaign and turning their iconic brands pink. Jonathan Warburton, Chairman of Warburtons family bakers said “Our family business has been supporting families across Britain since we began baking back in 1876 and through The Warburtons Foundation we continue to help a range of charities and organisations.

"We're  really excited to be turning our iconic Toastie loaf packaging pink, for the first time ever, to help raise much needed support for Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign to support the work of breast cancer charities.”

The Asda Tickled Pink campaign works with charity partners Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel! and they’re on a very special mission to make checking your boobs, pecs and chests, whoever you are, as normal as your Asda shop. The aim? To raise funds for breast cancer treatments, education and support. Together, they’re putting breast cancer awareness on everyone’s list.

Asda’s 2023 survey of its customers revealed 2 in 5 Asda shoppers regularly check their chests. Yet 24% of female shoppers who have checked before, are forgetting to check regularly enough. Asda Tickled Pink aims to provide this all important reminder.

Asda’s 2023 Tickled Pink campaign encourages everyone, regardless of age, gender or ethnicity to become Real Self-Checkers and establish a regular breast checking routine. Another first for Asda. It's the first supermarket to stock 'vertical salads'

Asda has announced it's the first UK supermarket group to stock a range of bagged salads nationally and also online which have been grown in ‘vertical farms,’ which significantly reduces the amount of energy and water required to grow them.

A new British salad range brand, Homegrown, is being launched in Asda stores this week. The range includes three SKUs: 80g Mixed Salad, 60g Rocket and 80g Hot & Peppery Cress.

Grown using 90% less water than traditional farming, and powered with 100% renewable energy, the products grown all year round in Gloucestershire will be available nationally online and in 270 Asda stores nationwide from now onwards.

The plants are grown in trays, stacked vertically, and are exposed to optimum growing conditions. They are fed nutrient-rich solutions, and by using temperature control and artificial lighting, Homegrown can achieve year-round crop production whilst also reducing water, chemicals used and land use.

Asda is continuously looking to offer its customers sustainable healthy options when they visit their stores and reduce its overall environmental impact.

Asda recently published its ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) report for 2022, and this year marks 10 years of the Asda Supplier Sustainability Exchange, helping suppliers share knowledge and improve their own environmental impact.

Dom Edwards, who is Asda's Produce Director said: “We’re delighted to be the first British retailer supplying a vertically farmed bagged salad range at this kind of scale, enabling customers to buy nationally and online. As well as clear sustainability benefits, the salad leaves aren’t subject to adverse weather – resulting in better availability and more consistent quality for our customers.”

“At Asda, we're always exploring for  new ways to give back to our customers via our Asda Rewards, so obviously really thrilled to be celebrating its first birthday by rewarding our customers with a guaranteed Cashpot bonus throughout the month of September.”

Rewards provides customers with the opportunity to earn pounds, rather than points, each time they purchase certain products or complete Milestone Missions. (EDITOR: That makes it sound kind of glamorous, like a James Bond assignment!)

New Asda Rewards users can also be able to take advantage of the First Scan Bonus, until Saturday 30th September.

Customers who download Asda Rewards, sign up for an account, and scan the app before 30th September will receive £5 in their Cashpot, too!

To get started on Rewards, customers need to download the Asda Rewards app and log in with - or create - an Asda Groceries account.

Terms and conditions for ‘Spin the Wheel’ and a full list of products excluded from Asda Rewards can be found on Asda's website - Asda.com.

New deal for parents from Asda

With just a week to go before most kids head back to school, Asda has introduced a new ‘Back to School bonus’ on its Rewards app.

Customers will get 10% back on school uniforms and a £2 Cashpot giveaway when they spend £10 on other back-to-school essentials like stationary, lunch boxes and drink bottles.

Asda has launched the offer after new research showed many families are struggling with school uniform costs due to ongoing financial pressures caused by the current situation.

A quarter (25%) of Asda customers surveyed said they'd be forced buy less school uniforms this year compared on years, while 42% said they'd do their best to try to make old uniforms last as long as they could before replacing them.

To make the back-to-school shop more affordable, customers can take advantage of the following Asda Rewards offers:

10% back in their Cashpots on all school uniform clothing, footwear and accessories with no minimum spend required, until Sunday 10th September

A £2 cashpot boost when they spend £10 on other back-to-school essentials such as stationary, until Sunday 3rd September.

New Asda Rewards customers who download and scan the app for the first time will get £5 in their Cashpot, until midnight on Sunday 30th September.

Additionally, Asda is also offering 10% off all schoolwear online via its George website until Monday 11th September.

Asda also has a 100-day guarantee on school uniforms, meaning that if for any reason a customer is not satisfied with their school uniform, they can simply return it within 100 days with proof of purchase for an exchange or refund.

Scott MacRae, who is Senior Buying Manager for Schoolwear at George, said: “With only a week until schools return, we're aware our customers will be focusing on ensuring their children are kitted out for the new school year. We appreciate this can be stressful, especially for our large families, so we want to help budgets stretch further with our back-to-school offers across our website and Asda Rewards.”

Asda’s latest Income Tracker reveals family disposable income remains firmly below the levels experienced prior to the cost-of-living crisis, down by £25.99 per week for the average household compared against July 2021.

The tracker also reveals those aged 30-49, are feeling the pinch the most as their spending on essentials, such as food, housing costs and utility bills, was 9.4% higher in July compared to a year earlier.

(EDITOR: But remember when you take your children to Asda to buy uniforms, school supplies, etc, Asda is still offering special meal deals in the Asda cafés, so you can feed them, too!)

Asda announces 425 branded and own-label price cuts

Asda has  announced price reductions on 425 branded and own-label products. This is part of its continued support for families who are impacted by the continuing cost of living crisis.

It's investing £23m to reduce prices by an average of 11% on some of the most popular products bought by customers on a weekly basis. This includes nappies, infant follow on milk, bread, cheese, cereals, pasta, fish fingers, sausages and chicken breasts.

These reductions follow on a £13m investment last month to cut prices on over 200 own-label products by an average of 9%.

Asda is increasing support for its customers as its latest Income Tracker shows family budgets remain under pressure from rising living costs. Despite the CPI inflation rate easing last month, family disposable incomes remain much lower than before the cost-of-living crisis, down by over £100 per month for the average household compared against July 2021.

Kris Comerford, who is Asda’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “While the headline inflation rate may have eased slightly last month, our own figures show us many customers continue to struggle with rising living costs.

"So we've targeted this latest price investment on products our customers buy week-in and week-out, to help their shopping budgets stretch a bit further. We’re also continuing to work closely with our suppliers and whenever there's a chance to pass on commodity price savings to customers we'll do this.”

The price reductions are already effective in all stores that stock those products and online.

Asda's also continuing to offer support to families by extending its hugely popular ‘Kids Eat for £1’ café meal offer for the rest of this year. Since launching this initiative in July 2022, Asda has served 2m meals from its cafes and invested £1.3m to keep the meal prices pegged at £1.

UK households see green shoots of recovery as disposable income rises, points out Asda

The latest figures from Asda’s Income Tracker shows the financial pressures facing UK households eased slightly during last month, with a 4.5% increase in disposable incomes year-on-year - marking the strongest annual growth rate since September 2021.

In July, the amount households had to spend on themselves after paying taxes and essential bills, was up by £9.48 a week compared on the same period a year prior.

Compared with the previous month, disposable income picked up by £6.09 per week, taking the average disposable income to the highest it has been since March 2022 at £218 per week.

The improvement in household spending power was due to the easing of inflation down to 6.8% in July compared to 7.9% the previous month. This was predominantly due to lower energy prices, while lower food and non-alcoholic beverage prices also contributed to the monthly slowdown.

But despite these recent improvements, family disposable income remains firmly below the levels experienced prior to the cost-of-living crisis, down by £25.99 per week for the average household compared to July 2021.

There are also notable differences between households, with those aged 30-49 feeling the pinch the most as spending on essentials like food, housing costs and utility bills, was 9.4% higher in July compared to a year earlier.

On average, these households spent £726 on essentials per week in July - £135 per week more than the average spend on essentials for all households.

In contrast, older households aged 65+ enjoyed a 7.8% increase in average disposable incomes in July compared to a year earlier. This reflects their stronger gross income growth following the recent uplift to the state pension and smaller rises in the cost of essentials.

Asda has pledged to continue to support families during the cost-of-living crisis by keeping prices under control and is monitoring the situation and launching new propositions to provide customers with more value every time they shop.

Asda won the Grocer 33 pricing award for the 26th consecutive year last month and has recently revealed it was cutting the prices of over 200 own-label lines by an average of nine percent. The products include a whole host of fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen meat and fish products, cupboard staples and popular ready meals, too.

Asda's also extended its immensely popular kids eat for £1 cafes offer until year's end of the year. It's served over two million meals to kids since it launched the initiative last June.

Breakfast of Champions with Asda

Asda's launched a special Breakfast of Champions bundle to accompany the women’s football tournament in Australia.

Complete with Vegemite, the full English with an Aussie twist has been designed to elevate early-morning fixtures for fans who would usually watch down the pub.

Asda’s Breakfast of Champions is available online here  https://groceries.asda.com/product/bacon/womens-world-cup-breakfast-bundle/9999999113385

Our breakfast tables aren't  the usual settings to watch the game, but with the final taking place at 11am Sunday 20 August, footie fans are more likely to be tuning in with their morning coffee than putting away pints in the pub.

To enjoy alongside the Lionesses’ efforts to take home the trophy, Asda's launched a breakfast bundle designed to elevate the morning fixture, with bacon sandwiches rather than pints of beer.

Asda’s Breakfast of Champions is a full English with a delightful Aussie twist, complete with Australia’s favourite savoury spread as a nod to the tournament hosts. Australia’s answer to Marmite, Vegemite is perfect for spreading on half-time toast, or, for the more adventurous, cheering on the girls with a bacon and vegemite sandwich.

The bundle also contains full English favourites like smoked back bacon, eggs, tomatoes, and bread, along with OMV! No Pork Chilli Sausages as an equally tasty meat-free alternative.

For those wanting to lean into the celebratory atmosphere, there’s even Extra Special Prosecco Brut and smooth orange juice to make a morning mimosa to toast to England’s success.

Whether watching at home with friends or over a team breakfast at work, Asda’s Breakfast of Champions makes the perfect accompaniment for the morning viewing. Or, if you’re feeling generous, why not surprise a fellow fan who’s tuning in to watch the big game and send a Breakfast of Champions to their door?

The Breakfast of Champions bundle feeds six, and is available for just £24.70 here now until the end of the tournament on Sunday 20th August.

Food Hub concept for Asda

Asda has just announced the launch of a brand-new, exciting food to go concept aimed at encouraging shoppers into Asda by providing great quality food to go options, but all at affordable prices.

The Asda Food Hub will be initially tested and trialled in its Leicester and Dagenham stores and will see a brand-new concession at the front of store serving barista style coffees, plus premium grab and go options such as sandwiches and cakes that are freshly prepared in store every day.

The food on offer will change throughout the day, providing tasty breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack options and there'll be a whole range of exciting meal deals on offer.

Shoppers will be able to get their hands on a breakfast sandwich and a regular hot drink for £3 to kick off their day, or if they’re after something to switch things up at lunchtime, they'll be able to indulge in a freshly made baguette and a regular hot drink for just £4.50.

The Food Hub will also offer shoppers a modern, welcoming new look and feel as they enter the store, and customers will be able to place their orders via touch screen tablets for quick, efficient service.

As part of the launch of Asda Food Hub, the retailer will also refresh 10 of its Pizza and hot food counters across its estate. The counters at Ipswich, Killingbeck, Havant, Haydon, Walton, Doncaster, Longwell Green and Gateshead will also undergo a makeover, bringing them in line with the Asda Food Hub brand and experience.

The update will also see a host of tasty new dishes and deals added to the menu, including a new hot pizza range designed to give shoppers quality, takeaway pizzas at a fraction of the price of traditional takeaway chains, plus the launch of a new Italian style pizza range, too.

The Italian Style range is a premium range of pizzas that has the iconic aerated Neapolitan-style crust, topped with a signature San Marzano tomato sauce and a delicious range of classic Italian toppings, sourced from Italy itself.

Deals include Asda’s famous Pizza Night In deal which gives shoppers two medium pizzas and a drink for just £6. And on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, shoppers can get two large pizzas for £8. T&Cs apply.

An Asda Spokesperson said:  “We’re obviously incredibly excited to be launching Asda Food Hub and bringing the hot food counters at some of our stores a makeover in line with this experience. We’re always looking for ways to give shoppers more quality, but affordable choices, and the new Asda Food Hub is a great example of Asda investing in our stores to be able to provide that for shoppers.

“We also know how much customers already love our pizza counters so we're pleased to be able to elevate this offering, giving our customers easy solutions that rival restaurant and takeaway quality, without the hefty price tag!”

The launch of the Asda Food Hubs follows a huge £1.2m revamp of the retailer’s traditional food to go range of sandwiches, salads and wraps that added more variety and quality options to the range.

Food shopping made simpler and easier as Asda displays daily fuel prices online

Food shoppers looking to fill their car boots with groceries at the same time as they fill their car with fuel, will appreciate the latest idea from Asda, as Asda's become the first supermarket in the UK to publish local fuel prices online, thus empowering and enabling motorists to check the price of petrol or diesel before they even get in their car.

Asda's confirmed fuel prices at each Asda filling station will be available alongside other key information on the Asda Store Locator pages https://storelocator.asda.com.

The latest fuel prices will be available on the store locator page from 10.30am every morning and will show the previous day’s closing price, too.

Asda is continuing to develop a system to display real-time pricing and it expects that this will be working in the coming months.

Asda is also continuing to work collaboratively with the Government as they develop an industry-wide fuel finder scheme.

A spokesman for Asda said: “We at Asda are very proud to be the price leader in fuel costs and by sharing our prices online, customers will be able to find the best value at the pumps before they get in the car.”

Mushroom Pigs in Smoky Aubergine Bacon and OMV! Strawberry Trifle.

Asda’s Signature Flavour Christmas 2023 trends and flavours

For Christmas 2023, Asda is excited to launch its first signature flavour, Brown Butter and Spiced Dark Rum. This has come from extensive trend tracking and hunting by the Asda Innovation Team, led by Senior Director of Trends and Innovation, Jonathan Moore.

The team noticed an abundance of brown butter being used globally across patisseries. Brown butter is created by cooking the butter slightly past its melting point, just long enough to toast the milk solids in the butter. By doing this, butter magic is formulated by releasing a deliciously nutty flavour profile.

After the celebration of all things gin, the team was on the hunt for the next ‘it’ trending spirit. They arrived at spiced dark rum after seeing the growth in use by mixologists across the globe. Spiced dark rum has a deep and instantly recognisable flavour from the use of warming spices, which instantly compliments winter foods. By combining these two key flavours, Asda’s 2023 winter signature flavour was born and infused across a selection of hero products.

This year’s signature flavour will be brought to life in various products throughout the range, with Extra Special Brown Butter & Spiced Dark Rum Mince Pies and centrepiece, Extra Special Slow Cooked Turkey with Signature Spiced Dark Rum & Brown Butter Stuffing offering a sweet and warming flavour.

As well as the signature flavour, customers will see a return of the retro favourite, Black Forest, appear in a series of sweet treats. Extra Special Black Forest Yule Log, Extra Special Black Forest Stollen Bites and a showstopping Extra Special Black Forest Woodland Cake are filled with the memorable rich chocolate and sour cherry flavour.

Sam Dickson, who is Asda's Interim Chief Customer Officer, said: “The festive season is a time for joy, comfort, and a sprinkle of indulgence! There's no better way to celebrate Christmas with loved ones than sharing delicious food and drinks.

"This year, our really incredible colleagues have been busy innovating, sourcing, and creating our most impressive and extensive range to date. Whilst 2023 has been a tough year for everyone across the UK, we want to ensure we can provide lots of opportunities for great tasting food and drink, and our customers don’t have to compromise on quality. We have hundreds of innovative new products as well as improved favourites meaning even more Christmas magic for your dinner table or party spread.

"I'm really thrilled with the improvement we've made in our quality this year, whilst keeping customers and value at the forefront of our minds. There is a tendency to think that to get the tastiest food you must spend more - but at Asda, that simply isn’t true.

"We believe that amazing, tasty food and drink is a pleasure everyone should be able to enjoy. Asda, that’s more like it”.

Hero Lines and Festive Favourites at Asda include:

Extra Special Cured Salmon Edged in Signature Pastrami Spice Bend

Finally, the dessert is topped with dark chocolate and decorated with milk and dark chocolate flakes.

A great alternative to a dairy based trifle that does not compromise on flavour.

A tangy strawberry compote is made from whole strawberries. Topped with hand placed egg free sponge then a dairy free custard. Finished with a lentil and coconut cream.

Extra Special Chocolate & Honeycomb Avalanche Dessert

This frozen dessert is a real showstopper! Salted caramel semi freddo filled with salted caramel sauce, milk chocolate shavings and honeycomb pieces. Finished with milk chocolate sauce and hand placed honeycomb pieces. Customers are invited to remove the collar at the table allowing the sauce to flow down the dessert, creating a real talking point.

Extra Special Chocolate Espresso Martini Cream Liqueur
