Salcombe Brewery co.'s Island Street Porter and Lifesaver Win Golds and More at SIBA Awards

South Devon's  Salcombe Brewery has earned major recognition at the prestigious SIBA Awards.

A spokesperson said: "We are absolutely thrilled that both our Lifesaver and Island Street Porter beers on gold at the recent SIBA SW Regional Awards, plus Island Street Porter also a silver in the Champion Cask category and a Best in Class Award."

Head Brewer, Sam Beaman added: “These are fantastic rewards for the hard work team puts into producing top class beers. 

"We're really pleased with Lifesaver's gold and thrilled with Island Street Porter's three awards, which is our most decorated beer so far. Last year it won Gold and Best Porter at the World Beer Awards.

The SIBA Independent Beer Awards are run across SIBA's 8 geographical regions, with the champions from each region, which include Island Street Porter for the South West, moving forwards to the National competition at BeerX.

Island Street Porter (ABV 5.9%) is a carefully crafted, velvety, delicately bitter porter with a hint of sweetness. Eight different malts combine to create tastes of dark chocolate, coffee and black cherry, while the aroma pleasingly hints at Black Forest gateau.

Lifesaver (ABV %) is a deep chestnut ale with a sweet chocolatey aroma. The use of torrefied wheat brings body and depth to this sweet malty ale.

Salcombe Brewery Co. Announces Donation to the Seahorse Trust from beer sales

Salcombe Brewery Co. is absolutely delighted to be able to reveal that it has just awarded over £2,000 to The Seahorse Trust, the money having been raised via donations for every bottle of its Seahorse beer that it sold.

Jordan Mace, who, in our opinion, has the wonderful and enviable job of being the MD at Salcombe Brewery Co., explains: “The surrounding coastal environment has always been hugely important to Salcombe Brewery Co. 

"The Salcombe Estuary is one of the few places in the UK where you can find the rarer of the two species of seahorse and we partnered with The Seahorse Trust four years ago to raise funds to support these endangered creatures. 

"We give a regular donation to The Seahorse Trust and are pleased to be handing over another £2,032.32 this month. This money was raised by making a donation of 5p from every bottle of Seahorse beer that was sold.”

The Seahorse Trust was founded back in 1999 by Neil Garrick-Maidment to preserve and conserve the natural world, especially the marine environment, with the seahorse as its flagship species. The Trust makes a genuine difference through education, conservation and campaigning for protected areas. 

Neil explains: “Salcombe Brewery Co. has been really incredibly supportive of our work over the last four years. Their regular donations are an invaluable resource for our much-needed conservation work.”

Salcombe Brewery Co. is celebrating a double win for its Island Street Porter at the 2023 World Beer Awards. Not only did it win a gold in the porter category, but it was crowned overall 'Country Winner' too, meaning that they judged it to be the best porter in the country.

Salcombe Brewery Co. Announces New Listing With Sainsbury's

Salcombe Brewery Co. is thrilled to announce it's secured an agreement with Sainsbury's to sell two of its much beloved beers, Seahorse and Shingle Bay, in twenty stores throughout the South West of England.

Jordan Mace, who is the MD of Salcombe Brewery Co. said: “We're really thrilled that Sainsbury's stores across the South West are now stocking Shingle Bay and Seahorse. 

"We have a huge fan base across the South West area and this will make it even easier for them to stock up on their favourite pint. It's also a great opportunity to introduce our beers to an even wider audience.”
