One Planet Pizza originally launched into Asda with their trademark sourdough plant-based pizzas. Since then, they have grown fast, outpacing plant based growth and developing several new recipes.
Now, chefs at One Plaent Pizza have developed a plant-based version of a UK favourite, Tex Mex. Like the rest of the range, the new variant combines One Planet Pizza's popular wood fired sourdough base with rich tomato sauce and a unique and highly acclaimed white bean based cheese (a high protein secret weapon which makes their pizzas around 35% lower fat than the market1). To top it all off, the Tex Mex is covered with marinated vegetables and sprinkled with jalapeños for a little kick.
One Planet Pizza was founded by father and son team, Mike and Joe Hill, with a clear mission to revolutionise the freezer aisle and get more people excited about plant-based food. Since their inception in 2016, they have grown rapidly, now listed in Morrison's, Asda, Booths, and across 6 markets, with a passionate fan base of vegans and flexitarians alike.
Joe Hill, co-founder of One Planet Pizza and guest Judge on BBC's The Apprentice, says “We can't wait to spice up Morrison's freezers with our outrageously tasty Tex Mex. Mike and Joe are both passionate long term vegans who believe strongly in the power of plant-based foods to tackle the climate crisis. Adopting a plant based diet can reduce carbon footprint by up to 52%2, though some sources think it could be far higher, so the pair developed hundreds of different recipes in their search for the perfect combination of toppings and sourdough base to make pizzas which appeal to everyone. The glowing reviews and strong sales suggest that their mission is well underway.
One Planet Pizza will be available in Morrison's from October 2024.
