Three Reasons to Visit Cornwall's Firebrand Brewing Co: Beer, Events & Gifts

Firebrand Brewing Co is based just off the A30 in Launceston, Cornwall, where it brews, serves and sells its alcoholic and non-alcoholic beers. Here are 3 reasons why you should visit them this summer.

1: It's The Best Place to Try Firebrand's New and Small Batch Beers

Firebrand's taproom is a dynamic community space where craft beer meets culture. Open from Wednesday to Saturday, the taproom offers a rotating selection of their freshest, limited-batch beers, brewed on-site. With ten taps pouring everything from hazy IPAs to crisp lagers, there's always something new to enjoy, alongside all your Firebrand favourites.

Some of their small-batch beers don't get the opportunity to make it out of the brewery so this is the best place to be if you want to try all their latest brews. Just outside, a variety of food trucks serve up delicious street food that pairs perfectly with their pints. Offerings range from wood-fired sourdough pizzas to Middle Eastern flatbreads, ensuring there's something to satisfy every palate.

2: They Host Some of The Most Entertaining Free Events in Cornwall

The taproom is a hub for live music and community gatherings, hosting regular music events such as Open Mic Nights and Songwriters' Nights, which provide a platform for emerging talent, and Firejam, a lively jam night fostering spontaneous musical collaborations.

For those who prefer a cerebral challenge, they host regular fun nights of Pop Bingo and their charity Beer & Brains Quiz. Most of their events are free entry with the exception of the Beer & Brains Quiz (£2.00pp) where half the proceeds go to charity and the other half to the winner.

3: It's The Perfect Place to Stock Up on Beer & Gifts

For those based in the area, popping into an event or just passing through en route to a Cornish holiday, their Beer Shop is the perfect place to stock up on Firebrand Beer and merchandise. The shop is open Monday to Saturday and stocks all the core Firebrand brews as well as all the latest small-batch beers, fresh out of the brewery.

Visitors can fill up on their fantastic range of authentic alcoholic and non-alcoholic Cornish beers and pick up some gifts too. The brewery is just behind the renowned Philip Warren Butchers, making it the perfect drink and BBQ stop.

Firebrand Brewing Co was forged in 2012 in a converted milking parlour on the untamed edge of Bodmin Moor, North Cornwall. The idea was born from a passion for beer made from all-natural ingredients, Cornish spring water and American hops.

Its highly acclaimed beers include Shorebreak Alcohol Free Hazy Pale, Little Wave Alcohol-Free Lager, Summerleaze Hazy Pale, Helles Beach Lager and West Coast, a session IPA. How to Choose the Perfect Caterer for Your Event

Planning an event can be both exhilarating and daunting. Whether it's a wedding, corporate gathering, or a milestone celebration, one of the most critical aspects to consider is the catering.

A delectable spread can elevate your event from memorable to unforgettable. But how do you go about selecting the right caterer?

Here's a guide to help you navigate through the process with finesse.

Define Your Needs: Begin by outlining your event's requirements. Consider the type of cuisine you desire, dietary restrictions of your guests, the event's theme, and the level of formality. Having a clear understanding of your needs will help you narrow down your options.

Research Extensively: With a plethora of caterers available, research is key. Seek recommendations from friends, family, and colleagues who have hosted similar events. Additionally, browse online reviews and ratings to gauge the caterer's reputation and reliability.

Sample Menus: Once you've shortlisted a few caterers, request sample menus. A tasting session allows you to assess the quality and presentation of their dishes. Pay attention to the variety offered, portion sizes, and flexibility in customising the menu to suit your preferences.

Check Credentials: Ensure the caterer possesses the necessary licenses and permits required to operate legally. Verify their adherence to food safety regulations and inquire about their experience in catering events of similar size and scale.

Visit Their Kitchen: Arrange a visit to the caterer's kitchen or facilities. This provides insight into their hygiene standards, organisational capabilities, and overall professionalism. A well-maintained kitchen reflects the caterer's commitment to excellence.

Budget Considerations: While quality shouldn't be compromised, it's essential to align the caterer's services with your budget. Request a detailed breakdown of costs, including food, beverages, staffing, equipment rentals, and any additional charges. Be transparent about your budget constraints to avoid any surprises later.

Communication is Key: Effective communication is paramount throughout the planning process. Choose a caterer who is responsive, attentive to your needs, and willing to accommodate last-minute changes or special requests. A proactive approach to communication fosters a seamless partnership.

Sample Service: Beyond the culinary aspect, evaluate the caterer's service standards. Pay attention to the professionalism and demeanor of their staff during the tasting session or any previous events they've catered. Exceptional service enhances the overall dining experience for your guests.

Flexibility and Creativity: Look for a caterer who demonstrates flexibility and creativity in their approach. Whether it's devising innovative menu options, accommodating dietary restrictions, or adapting to venue constraints, a versatile caterer can navigate challenges with ease.

Finalise Contracts: Once you've found the perfect caterer, review the terms of the contract meticulously. Ensure all details, including menu selections, pricing, payment schedules, cancellation policies, and insurance coverage, are clearly outlined and agreed upon by both parties.

Choosing the right caterer is a pivotal decision that can significantly impact the success of your event. By following these guidelines and trusting your instincts, you'll be well-equipped to select a caterer who exceeds your expectations and leaves a lasting impression on your guests. Bon appétit!

The Nationwide Caterers Association has a "find a caterer" service https://www.ncass.org.uk/find-a-caterer.
