Barbers Bean to Bar's New Cocoa Husk Latte Wins Prestigious Three-Star Great Taste Award

Barbers Bean to Bar is proud to announce that its new Cocoa Husk Latte has been awarded a coveted three-star rating at the Great Taste Awards, placing it among the top 2% of entries and signifying exceptional quality and flavour.

It's the second year in a row that Barbers has been awarded three-stars for its products.

Described as rich, indulgent and offering a unique cocoa experience, Barbers Cocoa Husk Latte continues to delight chocolate lovers seeking a sustainable, artisan-crafted alternative to traditional hot chocolate.

Judges called it “the best hot chocolate we have ever tasted – thick and creamy with a bold chocolate note that is strong, but not overly so”.

They praised its “deep, luxurious mouthfeel with hints of orange zest and fruity acidity that makes it stand apart”, recognising a flavour journey “from berries to plums, to toasted cereal and nuts, vanilla and wood.”

With its chocolatey notes and dried fruit and floral finish, when infused into milk it is smoother and lighter than a classic hot chocolate with half the fat. One judge summed it up as “outstanding… a gorgeous journey of flavours that most drinks can only hope to do.”

The award-winning drink is available to purchase directly through the Barbers Bean to Bar website, as well as in selected cafés, coffee shops and farm shops across the UK. It is both suitable for vegans and gluten free.

Co-founder and chocolatier Michael Barber told That's Food and Drink: “We're absolutely thrilled to see our Cocoa Husk Latte recognised with a three-star Great Taste Award.

"This drink was born out of a passion for both flavour and sustainability, transforming what is usually a byproduct of chocolate making it into something rich, comforting and entirely unique. It's incredibly rewarding to know that the judges recognised the care, craft and ethical sourcing that go into every cup.”

Michael runs Barbers Bean to Bar with his wife Jenelle. They champion sustainability at every stage of production, sourcing organic, fairly traded cocoa beans from small cooperatives around the world and packaging its products in 100% recyclable and biodegradable materials. Even their innovative cardboard tubes are designed to double as seedling pots, reinforcing a commitment to reducing waste.

Alongside the award-winning Barbers Cocoa Husk Latte, the brand also offers a range of artisan Cocoa Teas, including: Single-Origin Peruvian Whole Bean Cocoa Tea, Cocoa Husk & Assam Tea and Cocoa & Peppermint Tea. Barbers Bean to Bar Single Origin Peruvian Whole Bean Cocoa Tea was awarded three-stars in the 2024 Great Taste Awards.
